Obituary for Sandra Royce Russ (Slocumb)

Mrs. Sandra Slocumb-Russ, the daughter of the late Charlie and Earline Slocumb, was born on January 6, 1956 in Columbus, Georgia. Mrs. Russ departed her early life on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Highsmith Rainey Specialty Hospitality in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Slocumb; mother, Earline Slocumb; a brother, Howard Slocumb, Sr. and a sister, Judy Slocumb-Hall.


In 1975, Mrs. Russ graduated from Spencer High School in Columbus, Georgia. After high school, she enrolled into Columbus Technical College, where she earned an Associate Degree in Cosmetology. She later went to culinary school and cooking became her passion.


She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving husband, Douglas N. Russ of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two daughters, Lakisha Ingram and Jasmine Roaine of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Ky’Sandra Ingram, Elijah Ingram and Keely Whitehead of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Mrs. Russ also has three sisters, Peggy (Herb Dotson) of Columbus, Ohio, Kay (Jesse Curry) of Columbus, Georgia and Mytris (Harry Fennell) of Columbus, Georgia; two brothers, Karl (Lacinda) Slocumb of Indianapolis, Indiana and Bernard Thornton of Waycross, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Johnny Hall of Columbus, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Milo Slocumb of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one aunt, Gladys Slocumb of Atlanta, Georgia; one best friend, Kamonia Nesbit of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.
