Obituary for Addie Arletha McMillan (McEachin)

Addie Arletha McMillan was born of February 6, 1935 to the late Earnest and Addie McEachin in Hope Mills, North Carolina. She entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, June 18, 2018 at her home.

Addie was educated in the Cumberland County Public Schools and was a homemaker for her loving family while raising her children. Later in life she served as a caretaker in the home health care service. She served the community as well in many ways. Addie had the best heart ever. If you needed a ride to your doctor’s appointment, she was there, if you needed prayer, she was there, if you were weary she would direct you to the perfect scripture in the Bible. She absolutely loved her children, her grandchildren, her pastor, her church family and community. God finally told Addie to gather up her heart, her smile, her love and come home to live with Him. And, so now, she is with her Lord and Savior in heavenly bliss and hoping that the next generation will follow her teachings in love.

Addie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age while attending Mars Hill Presbyterian Church under the leadership of Reverend Scrivens. At the time of her departure, she served faithfully as Mother at Calvary House of Prayer, Hope Mills, North Carolina under the leadership of Elder Roy Flournoy.

Addie’s love, generosity and sweet spirited soul was a beacon of light for all to see. She loved cooking, sewing, and setting out plants and flowers around the house. All of the nieces and nephews and their friends loved gathering and staying at her house when in town.
Those left to cherish her memories: two daughters, Ann McMillan Walton, Morrisville, North Carolina and Melva L. McMillan, Irving, Texas; three sons, Ira T. McMillan (Lillie), San Diego, California, James Q. McMillan (Janet), Fayetteville, North Carolina and Tracey Lee McMillan, Gastonia, North Carolina; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; special friends include Sarah Butler and Mary Matthews, a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John (Lester) McMillan; a daughter, Carol Tracey and one son, Quincey Lee; five brothers and four sisters.
