Obituary for John Lewis Felder

John L. Felder of Fayetteville, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 3, 2022. He and wife, Pearl (deceased) were longtime members of the Division Memorial Chapel for over 30 years. He had faith and a strong belief in the Lord.

He honorably served in the United States Air Force for over 25 years, enlisting in 1951. After retirement, he worked at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant, then worked on Fort Bragg as a civil servant before final retirement. His last job was
a facilitator for MWR on Fort Bragg. He received several commendations and medals, after being trained as a medic, even flying helicopters in order to rescue pilots during the Vietnam war.

He was preceded in death by his father, Saul Felder, his mother, Hattie Maude Wright, his sister Ruth Allen, his brothers, Willie James and Enoch Felder. Also, by his wife of 58 years, Pearl Felder.

He was a devoted father and husband to his wife, Pearl and their (4) children: John, Jr. of Miami Beach, FL, Michael Felder of Matthews, NC (Christina), Jeffrey Felder of Colorado Springs, CO (Carole), and Renee Hunte of Cary, NC (Anthony), and his son, Andre Stembridge of Warner Robins, GA.

He is survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren

Also surviving is his sister, Helen Burgess of Perry, GA and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

John was a giving, caring, kind, patient, and an understanding friend who was always willing to help others. His family and friends describe him as humorous, competitive and compassionate, with a servant heart. He also thoroughly enjoyed coaching his son’s sports teams. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him

He was fun to be around and always opened his home to others. He was a diehard Raiders and Lakers fan but had an interest in almost every sport and he loved to watch sports. He won a Georgia state championship in high school basketball in 1949, playing for the Houston County High School Indians. His favorite professional players included Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Jim Brown, Kenny (the Snake) Stabler and so many others
