Obituary for Juanita Hooks-Bunah

Juanita “Nana” Hooks-Bunah born on Tuesday, July 20, 1948 in Washington, DC departed this life on Monday, December 28, 2020 there was no time to say a final Good-Bye nor was there time to have one more conversation, one more hug one more I Love You. We know that it was your time to answer and we Thank God for your life, your love, and your legacy.

Juanita was raised in Duplin County. She moved to New York where she worked, raised her children established many lifetime memories, and friendships. She retired from New York Telephone Company after 30+ years of service. She lived in Philadelphia, PA where she continued to build friendships and make memories. She returned to North Carolina to be closer to family especially her Grandsons, the loves of her life from the moment they arrived. Once she gained the tittle Nana that just became her name.

Juanita loved her family not only her sisters she loved her cousins and sharing memories with them of growing up and how far they had truly come. She loved attending family reunions in Duplin County over Memorial Day and Labor Day.
She was the mother to Jeffrey Lorenzo Hooks of Fayetteville and Mary Ann Hooks of the home. She was the Nana to Andrew Earl Miller and Isaiah DeValle Gordon. She was sister to Shirley (Norm) Strothers of Rochester New York, Wanda Newkirk of Washington, DC., Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. She was a member of foundation of Christ Fellowship Church, Eastover NC.
