Michael Walter Conlin was a retired Air Force Veteran . He served 20 years and retired at his final duty station on Pope Air Force from 1983 to 2003. After his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, he continued to work shortly as a civilian contractor, until he transitioned to an Official Government Employee working at quite a few command centers amongst many squadrons. His work Family for the last few years had been with the Special Operations Recruitment Battalion at their Headquarters on Fort Bragg. Michael took so much pride in his job with the military, while in service, and the years that followed. His work ethic was found amongst few others, and as his family, we can attest that not once did he ever complain about work during his 30 year career. There were many times that he was working on a project that he was truly excited to talk about. Every award that he was presented he was truly grateful and took it as an honor with pride to be given that outstanding accomplishment. These awards included two oak leaf clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, National Defense Service Metal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 3 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Metal with four oak leaf clusters, as well as Achievement and Commendation Metals. Although, at the end of his career he was ranked a TSGT, he was also a proud family man. Many family members refereed to Michael as Papa Mike. Michael was preceded in death by his late wife Janelle Esther Conlin, William James Conlin, and Louise Evelyn Bonzulak, and his late brother David Bonzulak. Michael remarried in 2014 to Raymond Quinones. Their 8 year marriage anniversary was February 17th. Mike was an amazing father, papa, brother, husband, and best friend. He was proud to take on that role to not only his own children and grandchildren, but his prodigal children as well. Over the years, Mike took care of many others whether it was a family friend, neighbor, niece, nephew, and even many people who had been in unfortunate circumstances. He would bless anyone he saw that just needed a lending hand. He had the mentality to spread kindness, love, and cheer to all that crossed his path. His kind heart and gestures, sometimes unnoticed, were a blessing to many of those that knew him. Sometimes he was there when they didn't have any family of their own to give them guidance or support. Mike had an amazing soul, infectious laughter, outrageously funny dad jokes, and a warm heart that treated everyone as they were equal. His sarcastic sense of humor was for the most part classy and always welcomed. (Besides a few nurses and doctors from his stays over the years.) He truly was a joke-steer who loved to live life to the fullest while still bringing smiles to all those around him. Michael Conlin passed away at 3:30 p.m. on February 22, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC. All Veterans, Family, and Friends that would like to attend, are asked to come at 12:50 p.m. ( 1:00 service) on Saturday, March 6, 2021.
