Obituary for Ruby Jean Bobbitt

Ruby Jean Bobbitt, our beloved mother and friend died unexpectedly, September 7, 2018 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital, in Fayetteville, NC at the age of 68.

Ruby was born at St. Agnes Hospital in Raleigh, NC. She became a native of Englewood, NJ where she received her education and graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in 1969. She also became a member of Ideal Temple 290 Daughters of Elks. She also lived in Bellwood, IL for several years where she was a truant officer at Proviso West in Hillside, IL. After moving to North Carolina she began working at Gulistan, House of Raeford and Lowes.

Ruby enjoyed living the retired senior life. She was a member of the Ebony Red Hatters, Senior Road Runners, AARP club and was a member of a senior dance group. She also enjoyed volunteering at the H.E.L.P. Store in Raeford, NC, The Big Fix No Kill shelter, and various other charities and organizations.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Emmie Kate Bobbitt.

Her life, humor, memories and ability to be straightforward with others will always be remembered and revered by: her daughter, Tyra Ellis and her son George Holley; three grandsons, Keane Quantaze Sauls Jr., Timothy Shawn Holley, Joshua Ervin Holley; one granddaughter, Asya Jameela Bryant; three sisters, Mamie Kate Bobbitt, Dorothy Kunas, Tondalea Ayala; one brother, Dwight Bobbitt; and a host of other relatives and friends.
