Obituary for Virginia McGilberry

Virginia Buie McGilberry was born on January 2, 1935, to John L. Buie and Hattie Jackson Buie. She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, North Carolina.


She was a loving and caring mother to her children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren.

She was a faithful member of True Gospel United Church of God in Sanford, North Carolina. She served as a Sunday school teacher in her early years and faithfully as an usher until her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John L. Buie and Hattie Jackson
Buie; her husband, Calvin McGilberry; her four brothers, Coy, J.D., Weldon
Buie, and Willie Jackson; her two sisters, Nellie Simmons and Maggie Walls;
and one son, Roger McGilberry.


She leaves to treasure her memory, her four daughters, Clara of Sanford, NC,
Priscilla (William) Smith, of Chesapeake, VA, Connie (William) Cade of
Montgomery, AL, and Angela (Gerald) Knighten; five sons, Jackie of Spring
Lake, NC, James (Gloria) of Sanford, NC, Scottie (Robin) of Cameron, NC,
Reginald of Fayetteville, NC, and Gregory of Fayetteville, NC; three sisters, Doris
Sellers of Olivia, NC, Rachel Sellers of Olivia, NC, and Marzella Murchison of
Fayetteville, NC; sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host
of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
